Yuffie was born and raised in Wutai by her father, Wutai's leader Godo Kisaragi, until she was ten. She ran off after Wutai lost to midgar and Gogo made Wutai a tourist attraction for outsiders. Yuffie didn't like this so she ran away, stealing materia from unaware travelers. Yuffie meets Cloud in the forest after leaving the Mythril Mines near Fort Condor. She calls herself a materia hunter, but is actually a materia-thief.
